We believe that every woman deserves the opportunity to heal and thrive. Our mission is to empower women on their recovery journey by offering a nurturing community that promotes accountability, resilience, and personal development.
We take an individualized approach to recovery
Understanding the unique challenges women face in recovery, Sunrise House offers a comprehensive program tailored to support each resident’s path to sobriety.
Structured Living: Residents adhere to a daily schedule that fosters responsibility and stability, essential components for successful recovery.
Supportive Community: We cultivate a sense of sisterhood among residents, encouraging peer support and shared experiences to strengthen recovery bonds.
Life Skills Development: Our programs include workshops and activities designed to equip residents with practical skills for independent living, such as financial management, job readiness, and effective communication.
Therapeutic Support: While residing at Sunrise House, women have access to counseling services and are encouraged to participate in local support groups to address underlying issues related to addiction.

Meet our team
Jennifer Peterson, Program Director
With 20 years in recovery and 17 years working in the addiction recovery field, Jennifer brings deep personal insight and professional experience to the work she does. Addiction has touched her life in many forms since birth, and today, she uses that journey to passionately guide others toward healing and transformation.
A firm believer that connection is key to lasting recovery, Jennifer sponsors women, offers compassionate guidance, and shows up authentically in every space she holds. She’s especially passionate about helping others navigate those pivotal, life-changing moments that can define a new path forward.
Outside of her work, she’s a proud mom to four daughters, and a lover of all things green and furry—plants and animals are her peaceful place.
Zack Hopping, Owner/Executive Director
Born and raised in Michigan, Zack moved to Utah in 2022 to begin a new life in recovery. Zack grew up playing classical violin and tennis and studied Computer Science and Music at Duke University.
After 10 years working in the software industry, he started Sunrise House in the hopes of giving back to the recovery community in SLC.
Dezerae Walker, House Manager
Born and raised in Utah, Desi spent most of her life in addiction and now spends her life in recovery helping others.
She is heavily involved in the local recovery community in SLC and enjoys competing in the sober softball league.
